24 KFC Restaurants in France Become Fully Halal
KFC France has announced that 24 of its 404 restaurants will switch to serving exclusively certified halal chicken starting 21 January 2026, responding to growing consumer demand and local market trends. The company said this change affects only a small proportion of its total network, around 6%, and is not a nationwide shift of all outlets to halal menus. Clear signage will identify the restaurants offering halal chicken, and this information will also be available on KFC’s website and app. KFC explained the decision as part of its strategy to “respond to the diversity of expectations of all our customers” and accommodate evolving eating habits without abandoning its broader universal menu. The chain emphasised that the vast majority of its French restaurants will continue to serve non-halal chicken as before, and that halal offerings reflect local demand in specific areas rather than a blanket policy. The halal products will be sourced from certified suppliers to meet Islamic dietary standards, and customers will be informed in-store and online. The move aligns with wider trends in the French fast-food market: other chains such as Quick, Five Guys and Pizza Hut have already introduced halal options or converted some outlets to halal menus to tap into urban demand. The announcement sparked discussion on social media and among consumers about its commercial and cultural implications, but KFC stressed that it remains focused on offering choice and inclusivity where there is clear customer interest, rather than altering its overall brand identity.
