26 Million Rally Across Iran in Celebration of 47th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Large crowds gathered across Iran to mark the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, with senior officials describing the turnout as a sign of national strength and legitimacy. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the public presence sent a clear message to the world and reinforced Iran’s position in diplomacy and negotiations. According to him, officials draw confidence from both the people and the armed forces, saying the support strengthens Iran’s stance at the negotiating table. He added that details of the next round of talks have not yet been finalized.

Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh called this year’s turnout unprecedented, saying the scale of participation was more powerful than any military display. Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib described the rallies as a concrete expression of national unity, while Education Minister Alireza Kazemi framed them as a response to hostile rhetoric from Israel and Western governments. Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i said the demonstrations carried two messages: a warning to foreign adversaries and a reminder to domestic officials to address public concerns and remain closely connected to the people.

Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad also addressed the impact of sanctions, saying Iran has developed strategies to sustain oil exports despite ongoing restrictions. He insisted the country would not face serious disruption, portraying resilience in the energy sector as part of the broader resistance to economic pressure.

Beyond Iran’s borders, the anniversary drew congratulatory messages from several world leaders. Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Yemen’s Mahdi al-Mashat, India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari all sent messages marking the occasion. Pakistan’s foreign ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, while the UN Secretary-General emphasized dialogue, multilateral cooperation, sustainable development, and human rights in his message.

Taken together, the anniversary was framed by Iranian officials as both a domestic show of unity and an international signal that the Islamic Republic retains public backing amid continued regional tensions and foreign pressure.
