32% of Israelis Need Mental Health Care After Two Years of War: Survey

A new opinion poll reported by Anadolu Agency found that 32 percent of Israelis said they require specialized mental health support after more than two years of geno-cide. The survey was conducted in November by Maccabi Healthcare Services, one of Israel’s largest healthcare providers, and was based on a representative sample of 1,100 people aged 20 to 75 across the country, according to The Times of Israel.

The survey showed higher levels of reported mental health needs among military personnel who served during the past year. Among this group, 39 percent said they required mental health support, 26 percent reported concerns related to depression, and 48 percent said they were experiencing sleep problems. Overall, 17 percent of respondents described their mental well-being as average or poor, compared with 13 percent before the Ga-za war.

Additional findings indicated broader social and health impacts. Thirty percent of smokers said they increased cigarette consumption due to psychological stress, and medical data reviewed in the survey showed a 4 percent decline in births compared with 2024. The Israeli military stated that 21 service members died by suicide since the beginning of 2025. An Oct. 10 ceasefire halted a two-year war on Ga-za that kil-led more than 71,200 Pales-tinians and injured over 171,200, while Ga-za health authorities reported that more than 400 people were kil-led and over 1,100 injured in Israeli atta-cks after the ceasefire.
