The Nobel peace prize award holder turned tyrant Aung San suu Kyi is sentenced to another three years after the former leader of Myanmar was found guilty of breaching the country’s official secrets act by a secretive military court, the latest in a thread of convictions brought by the generals who removed her from office in a coup last year.

Deadly Blast Targets Shia Minority in Kabul, Killing 19 and Injuring 27

At least 19 people were killed when a suicide bomber exploded himself at an educational institute in the capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul. Over 27 were also wounded when the blast rocked the city in the the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood of western Kabul, a largely Shia Muslim area and home to the minority Hazara community.

15 Year Old Girl Killed by US Military Forces in Fallujah, Iraq

A 15-year-old Iraqi girl was killed on Tuesday 20th September, identified as Zainab Essam Majed al-Khazali. She died when a stray bullet hit her head in the Albu Alwan area on the outskirts of Al-Fallujah, Iraq on Tuesday as the US military conducted drills in the Victoria base close to Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison.

Reported Nature of Mahsa Amini’s Death Remains up for Discussion

The Islamic Republic of Iran is facing severe backlash following the death of a 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini. Several reports state that Mahsa was brutally beaten by the ‘morality police’ for not observing the hijab correctly, which ultimately led to her death after she slipped into a coma.  

Australian Artist forced to remove ‘peace mural’

The Ukrainian ambassador to Russia has disapproved the painting of a huge mural in Melbourne that shows a Russian and Ukrainian soldier hugging each other. Artist Peter Seaton, also known as CTO was required to paint over the mural entitled as “Peace Before Pieces” on Kings Way in Melbourne following a frenzy of online hate.

Sexually Explicit Books Pulled from Michigan School Libraries

Concerned parents made a case to pull seven explicit books available to children in Dearborn, Michigan’s public schools. A police report was filed as well for one of the books that groomed children to join dating apps, the report citing that the content was dangerous. Parent outcry has leaders discussing this issue in schools across the nation.

A former Yemeni foreign minister says the French Foreign Legion, a military force comprising of foreign nationals, arrived on 21st August, in the impoverished Arab country’s southern province of Shabwah in a quest to secure control of a gas facility there.
