Democrats Release Epstein’s ‘Birthday Book’, with Contributions Attributed to High-Profile Figures Including Trump, Clinton

Democratic politicians have released a 238-page scrapbook compiled for Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th birthday. The book, titled The First Fifty Years, was assembled in 2003 by Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently in jail for recruiting and trafficking teenage girls for sexual abuse. The scrapbook contains contributions attributed to several high-profile figures, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Peter Mandelson, the current UK ambassador to Washington. It features letters, drawings and photographs, many of which are redacted. Some of the images depict Epstein embracing women whose faces are concealed, and others contain explicit or suggestive themes. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability released scans of the book following public concern in the United States over allegations of powerful individuals’ ties to Epstein. One of the most discussed sections is a birthday note linked to Donald Trump. It is written within a sketch of a nude female torso, with “Donald” signed beneath the drawing. The text includes a message that reads, “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey,” followed by the remark, “Every day be another wonderful secret.” Trump has denied writing the note or drawing the image and has filed a 10 billion dollar defamation suit. Another page shows Epstein holding an oversized cheque for 22,500 dollars with Trump’s signature, though the context is partly redacted. Bill Clinton is listed in the “friends” section of the scrapbook. A note attributed to him refers to Epstein’s “childlike curiosity” and “drive to make a difference.” Clinton’s office has not commented, though the former president has previously said he cut ties with Epstein more than a decade before his arrest. Peter Mandelson is cited in a handwritten letter calling Epstein “my best pal.” Photographs included show Mandelson with Epstein in informal settings. Mandelson has since said he regrets ever meeting Epstein. The scrapbook also features testimony from women who described their lives changing after meeting Epstein, with references to meeting world figures including Prince Andrew, Clinton, Trump, Naomi Campbell and Michael Jackson. One account describes visiting Buckingham Palace and sitting on the throne of the late Queen Elizabeth II, though it does not specify who facilitated this access. Buckingham Palace has declined to comment. Illustrations in the book include one showing Epstein handing balloons to young girls in 1983 and another portraying him receiving a massage in 2003. A private jet matching the tail number of Epstein’s aircraft known as the “Lolita Express” is also depicted. The compilation contains about 150 contributions in total. Notable names include lawyer Alan Dershowitz and billionaire Leslie Wexner. Some letters make explicit references to Epstein’s sexual behavior. Large sections remain redacted. The release of the scrapbook has intensified scrutiny over Epstein’s network and reignited debate in the United States and the United Kingdom about how closely high-ranking political and business figures were linked to him.
