Gaza Gen*cide Death Toll May Be Over 200,000 as Population Declined 10%: Report
A report by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights says the war on the Ga-za may have caused more than 200,000 deaths, citing data indicating the territory’s population has declined by over 10 percent since October 2023. Stuart Casey-Maslen said the scale of population loss suggests far higher fatalities than widely circulated figures and warned that many victims may remain buried under rubble and uncounted. The assessment appears in the institute’s latest War Watch report reviewing conditions across 24 conflicts over the past 18 months. The Pales-tinian Central Bureau of Statistics reported the population decline, while the Ga-za Ministry of Health states that 72,037 Pales-tinians have been kil-led and 171,666 injured since October 2023, noting thousands remain trapped under debris beyond rescue access. Maslen said current tallies reflect only documented bodies recovered by medical teams and emphasized that verification is still required to determine the exact total. Maslen described conditions as extremely serious and called for expanded humanitarian aid, including food, water, shelter, and medical care, stating people are still dying despite a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Ham-as. In January, the administration of President Donald Trump announced the start of a second ceasefire phase focused on negotiations over Ga-za’s future governance and reconstruction, but key issues such as Israeli withdrawal from more than 50 percent of the territory remain unresolved and violations continue.
