Justice Dept, FBI Investigation Concludes Jeffrey Epstein Died of Suicide, No Secret ‘Client List’

A comprehensive U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI review of all files related to Jeffrey Epstein has concluded that there is no secret “client list” to be released and no further charges are expected against uncharged third parties. The findings also confirm that Epstein died by suicide in August 2019 while in federal custody — directly contradicting years of conspiracy theories suggesting foul play or the existence of a broader network protected by authorities.

The memo, released late Thursday, stated that investigators “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.” It also clarified that despite extensive public speculation, the long-rumored client list implicating powerful individuals in Epstein’s crimes does not exist in any official form.

The DOJ disclosed that its review included exhaustive digital and physical searches, covering “databases, hard drives, network drives, squad areas, locked cabinets, desks, closets,” and any other location where responsive materials could have been stored. The review yielded more than 300 gigabytes of data and thousands of physical files, including “a large volume of images of Epstein,” as well as videos and photographs of victims — some of whom were confirmed or appeared to be minors.

The department said it would not release this material due to its graphic and illegal nature, reiterating its obligation to protect victims of child exploitation. “We will not permit the release of child pornography,” the DOJ memo stated.

Epstein and his girlfriend Ghizlaine Maxwell, daughter of Israeli spy Robert Maxwell, were allegedly linked to Israeli intelligence. According to alleged former Israeli spy Ari Ben-Menashe in Epstein: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the couple ran a “honey-trap” operation in which they used underage girls to blackmail politicians and influential figures into supporting Israel. Unsealed court documents revealed Epstein’s high-profile connections, including politicians and celebrities, while a Wall Street Journal investigation included additional contacts.

The newly released footage from Epstein’s time at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan further supported the official cause of death. Hours of surveillance video showed that no one entered or exited the area surrounding Epstein’s cell during the time frame in which he was reported to have taken his life. This finding was presented as definitive proof refuting claims of a cover-up or external involvement in his death.

The DOJ emphasized that its review was consistent with prior disclosures and aligned with previous investigations, reaffirming that Epstein was solely responsible for harming over one thousand victims over several decades. The department added that sensitive, personal information about those victims remains protected and cannot be disentangled from the larger body of evidence.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, who had previously promised transparency regarding Epstein-related records, said the release of the memo fulfills that obligation. Earlier document releases had similarly failed to validate the widely circulated theories connecting Epstein to high-profile political or corporate figures.

Still, reactions from public figures were swift. Billionaire Elon Musk, a frequent critic of government agencies, expressed skepticism on the social media platform X, posting a satirical image labeled “The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter” set at zero. “What’s the time? Oh look, it’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again,” he wrote. Musk also resurfaced claims that the delay in releasing files was linked to alleged connections between Epstein and former President Donald Trump.

Trump dismissed those suggestions in comments to NBC News, calling them “old news” and reiterating that Epstein’s own legal team had previously cleared him of involvement.

The DOJ, in its closing statement, urged the public to move past unsubstantiated speculation. “Perpetuating unfounded theories about Epstein serves neither justice nor the victims,” the department said. “One of our highest priorities is combatting child exploitation and bringing justice to victims. That remains our focus.”
