Stockport Muslim Family Reports Islamophobic Crime After Pig Head Found Mounted on Gate of Home

A Muslim family in Stockport has reported a suspected hate crime after a pig’s head was found mounted on the gates of their home. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 9, 2026, in Cheadle, and is being investigated by Greater Manchester Police. The family discovered the pig’s head on the ground outside their property while leaving for school that morning, after it appears to have fallen from the gate when it was opened.

CCTV footage reviewed by the family shows two unidentified individuals approaching the property, unwrapping the pig’s head, and placing it on the front gate before leaving the area. Police officers visited the family to take a full report, and an investigation is ongoing, with multiple lines of enquiry underway. No arrests have been made. GMP confirmed the incident is being treated as a hate crime and described it as a deliberate act targeting a family home.

The incident has caused significant distress to the family, including their two young children. Neighbours have offered support following the discovery. Police noted that a similar incident occurred in Stockport in December 2022, when a pig’s head was thrown onto the roof of a local Muslim community building.
