Texas Woman Sentenced to Five Years for Attempted Drowning of 3-Yr-Old Palestinian-American Girl

A Texas woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian-American Muslim girl in what authorities determined was a racially motivated attack. Elizabeth Wolf, 43, received the sentence from Judge Andy Porter in Tarrant County after pleading guilty to attempted murder and injury to a child, according to court documents cited by CBS News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Wolf, who waived her right to a jury trial, had been indicted in 2024 following the assault, which drew condemnation at the time from then-President Joe Biden. The incident took place in May 2024 at a swimming pool in an apartment complex in Euless, Texas. Police said Wolf confronted the children’s mother, asking where her family was from, before attempting to submerge the 3-year-old girl underwater. She also tried to grab the woman’s 6-year-old son, but the mother managed to pull her daughter to safety. Both children were evaluated by paramedics and later cleared of serious injury. The case comes amid a series of violent attacks across the United States linked to rising anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian bias. Recent incidents include the fatal stabbing of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy in Illinois, the stabbing of a Palestinian-American man in Texas, and mob assaults on pro-Palestinian demonstrators in California and New York. In Florida, two Israeli visitors were also shot after a gunman allegedly mistook them for Palestinians.
