UK Court Blocks Palestinian NGO’s Appeal Over Britain’s Exports of F-35 Fighter Jet Parts to Israel
A UK court has rejected a Palest-inian rights group’s bid to appeal a ruling that upheld Britain’s decision to allow indirect exports of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel. The Court of Appeal denied Al-Haq’s request earlier today, confirming that the UK’s Department for Business and Trade acted lawfully in continuing the exports despite acknowledging the parts could be used in potential violations of international humanitarian law. The case stems from Britain’s 2023 decision to exclude F-35 components from its suspension on arms export licenses linked to Israel’s war on Ga-za. Judges said it was ultimately up to the government to balance national security interests with concerns over Israel’s compliance with humanitarian law, effectively closing Al-Haq’s legal challenge. Al-Haq, based in the occupied West Bank, argued that Britain’s position makes it complicit in potential war crimes and undermines its obligations under international law. The ruling marks a setback for human rights advocates seeking to limit Western military involvement in Israel’s Ga-za geno-cide.
