WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Files Criminal Complaint Against Nobel Peace Prize

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange filed a criminal complaint on December 17 accusing 30 individuals linked to the Nobel Foundation of serious violations of Swedish law. The allegations include gross misappropriation of funds, facilitation of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and financing the crime of aggression. The complaint was submitted to Sweden’s Economic Crime Authority and its War Crimes Unit.

Assange’s filing calls for the immediate freezing of the SEK 11 million Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado. He argues that releasing the funds would breach Alfred Nobel’s will and materially support actions connected to extrajudicial kil-lings of civilians and shipwrecked survivors at sea.

According to the complaint, Machado’s public endorsement of foreign military intervention in Venezuela, including her praise for the Trump administration’s military escalation, disqualifies her under the prize’s original peace mandate. Assange maintains that awarding the prize in this context represents a fundamental distortion of its purpose and intent.
