Germany Records 930 Islamophobic Crimes in Nine Months, Police Say

German authorities say police logged 930 Islamophobic offences between January and September 2025. Most took place in the first half of the year and included public incitement, threats, property damage and assaults. Thirty one mosque atta-cks were recorded, injuring thirty seven people. Officials say the majority of these offences were linked to far right extremists.

Police identified more than five hundred suspects across the three quarters but only five were taken into custody and none faced an arrest warrant at the time. Lawmakers and community groups say this gap between identification and action raises real concerns about accountability and protection for targeted communities.

NGOs and monitoring groups warn that the numbers fit a wider pattern of rising anti Muslim hatred in Germany. They argue that under reporting, weak follow up and inconsistent hate crime classification leave the true scope of the problem hidden. They are urging stronger prevention measures, better data collection, and more decisive responses to violence against Muslim communities and their places of worship.
