Palestinian-American Activist and Comedian Amer Zahr Arrested by Israeli Police in Nazareth

Israeli police have arrested Pales-tinian American activist and comedian Amer Zahr, according to reports citing Roya TV. Zahr, who is also a member of the Dearborn Public Schools Board of Education in Michigan, was detained following an artistic performance in the city of Nazareth. The arrest reportedly took place after his appearance at Al Iwan Cafe, where witnesses described a significant police presence.

Sources said the detention occurred shortly after the performance concluded. As of the time of reporting, Israeli authorities have not disclosed the reason for the arrest, and no official information has been released regarding Zahr’s location or condition. No charges have been publicly announced.

Zahr was visiting the area as part of a planned artistic and cultural tour. He is a US resident known for satirical comedy addressing political and social issues and is a public advocate for Pales-tinian rights in the United States. Israeli authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident, and the lack of clarification has drawn attention due to Zahr’s role as an elected school board official.
