Israeli Foreign Agent Plans to Mass Message American Churchgoers with Anti-Palestinian/Muslim Texts

Reports from UM News warn that several United Methodist congregations in Texas may soon be targeted by a foreign influence campaign linked to the Israeli government. According to the report, a registered agent acting on Israel’s behalf has been using geofencing technology to identify churchgoers and deliver tailored digital messages aimed at boosting support for Israel among U.S. Christians. The idea of houses of worship being mapped and quietly monitored has raised serious concerns inside the denomination.

Church leaders and advocacy groups say the tactic crosses a line, arguing that religious communities should be able to gather, pray and express their views on global issues without being digitally tracked or profiled by any foreign state. They also point out that many Christians have been openly critical of Israel’s genocide in Ga-za, and fear this kind of targeted propaganda is meant to silence or dilute that dissent.

Calls are growing for federal authorities to investigate whether the operation violates U.S. laws governing foreign influence, data privacy or surveillance. Methodist congregations involved are urging protection of their right to worship freely and speak out on matters of justice without outside manipulation.
