Two British Tourists Ordered to Leave India Over Displaying Pro-Palestine Posters in Public
Two British tourists have been ordered to leave India after authorities accused them of violating visa conditions by displaying pro-Pales-tine posters and stickers in Rajasthan. Indian officials identified the individuals as Louis Gabriel Dee and Annushie Emma Christine, who were travelling on tourist visas when they were questioned by police over alleged political activity in the cities of Ajmer and Pushkar. Authorities stated that foreign nationals on tourist visas are prohibited from engaging in political campaigns, protests, or advocacy. Police said the Rajasthan Intelligence Department received information on January 21 regarding posters and stickers bearing slogans such as “Free Pales-tine” and “Boycott Israel,” which were reportedly placed on walls, signboards, and other public property. Investigators said the materials criticised Israel’s war crimes in Ga-za and expressed support for Pales-tine. Municipal authorities, accompanied by police, removed the materials after the investigation began, and officials concluded that the couple’s actions constituted a breach of visa regulations. Indian authorities revoked the tourists’ visas under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and ordered them to leave the country. The case comes amid heightened scrutiny of political expression by foreign visitors in India, where domestic pro-Pales-tine demonstrations have taken place in several cities, while foreign nationals remain restricted from participating in political activities. Neither individual has publicly commented on the allegations or indicated whether they will challenge the decision.
